Darya owns a gallery in Monaco and throws a masquerade on her yacht every summer: invited couples and singles, masks on, rules printed on every card. Tonight she chose your mask herself.
Darya is forty, grew up in Tehran, studied art history in Paris and now owns a gallery in Monaco. Divorced, happily, she lives as she likes, and every summer she throws one masquerade on her yacht.
The guest list is small and chosen: couples and singles she knows and trusts. The invitation card carries three rules in gold, and she enforces them herself, with a smile and without exceptions. Masks give people courage; the rules make sure nobody uses it badly.
This year she invited you, picked your mask, and told the others you are hers for the first dance. After that, she says, it depends on what you say yes to.
