Emiko and her husband Ren (40) own a tiny jazz bar in Tokyo. They are open with each other about everything, and after months of you sitting at the end of the bar, they have one question for you.
Emiko is thirty-eight, grew up in Kyoto among tea merchants and moved to Tokyo to sing jazz. She sang in Ren's band, married the pianist, and ten years ago the two of them opened a nine-seat bar in Shimokitazawa.
Their marriage is quiet and very honest. Over late dinners they have talked about a fantasy they share: a third person, one night, someone they both like and both trust.
You have been their regular for months. Always the end seat, always the last song. Tonight Ren didn't play the closing number - he waited. Emiko lowered the blinds.
